Winter long stays in Kalkan & Kaş

Between October and April our villas sit empty, so we rent them by the month. You get a private-pool house on the Mediterranean for a fraction of the summer rate — and a town that belongs to the people who live in it.

Who it suits

• Remote workers — a quiet winter, decent internet and a desk with a sea view.
• People wintering south — retirees and part-time workers in particular.
• Anyone looking to buy in the area who wants to try living here first.
• Hosting family for a long stretch — below hotel cost, with a home around you.

What to check before you commit

Ask these of us and of anyone else you talk to. A month is long enough that the small things matter.

• The heating system and who pays for it. This is the single most argued-about point in winter lets.
• Insulation. Most villas were built for summer; double glazing and an enclosed terrace make a real difference.
• Internet speed — if you will be working, ask for a speed test before committing.
• Which shops, pharmacies and restaurants stay open. Many close out of season.
• Whether you need a car. Public transport thins out in winter and a remote villa becomes hard work without one.
